BMW 520i M Sport with M Performance parts at Auto Bavaria – 21-inch wheels and tyres, added carbon-fibre

0

The 2024 BMW 520i M Sport arrived in Malaysia in September this year, and if the M Sport kit for the G60-generation sedan still leaves something to desired on the sporty aesthetics front, the 520i can now be had with the M Performance complement of parts, as seen on this example at Auto Bavaria Ara Damansara.

Powertrain for this M Performance-kitted G60 520i M Sport is carried over from that of the base 520i and M Sport variant, and this is a mild-hybrid B48 2.0 litre turbocharged inline-four cylinder petrol engine rated to produce 208 hp and 330 Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Rolling stock is where this kitted-out version starts to differ from the M Sport it is based upon; where the M Sport and based 520i are specified with a 19-inch wheel and tyre combination, the M Performance parts ensemble brings 21-inch M Performance units shod in Continental EcoContact 6 Q tyres, measuring 255/35R21 in front and 285/30R21 at the rear.

More carbon-fibre kit adds to the go-faster look, and here on the display unit are carbon-fibre side mirror covers, carbon-fibre front bumper lip extensions, and carbon-fibre side sill extensions, while the rear bumper receives carbon-fibre lower sections and a carbon-fibre bootlid spoiler.

Inside, it is M Sport trim business as before, and the trim package brings the three-spoke M leather steering wheel with the dashboard getting aluminium rhombicle trim sections. The M Sport trim variant adds an augmented reality view for its head-up display relative to the base 520i, and is otherwise identical in equipment specification.

Key highlights in terms of equipment include adaptive LED headlamps with high beam assist, four-zone climate control, Comfort Access with a powered tailgate, powered front seats with memory function for the driver, ambient lighting, rolled sunshades, a wireless charging pad, BMW Live Cockpit Professional (12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.9-inch touchscreen) and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and passive suspension.

For driver assistance kit, the Driving Assistant Plus package includes Active Cruise Control with stop and go, Steering and Lane Control Assistant and Lane Departure Warning. Also included as standard is the Parking Assistant Plus.

As standard, the BMW 520i M Sport is priced at RM349,800 on-the-road without insurance, or RM17,000 more than the base 520i. This pricing is without the BMW Service & Repair Inclusive package that includes a five-year warranty and service, which will add RM26,900 to the price for a total of RM376,700.
