When it comes to style and design, some of us are into elegant simplicity, while others feel that less is more.

Louis Vuitton Watch Prize Louis Vuitton X Kari Voutilainen LVKV-02 GMR 6

The newest addition to Louis Vuitton’s ongoing series of watchmaker collaborations is a striking timepiece with a travel theme that was created in collaboration with renowned horologist Kari Voutilainen.

The upgraded 40.5mm time-teller, known as the LVKV-02 GMR 6, is based on the latest Escale model, which made its debut last year.

The French word “Escale,” which means “stopover,” alludes to Louis Vuitton’s long history of travel and, more especially, its exquisite trunkmaking.

With angular details and rivets that evoke the brass brackets on the vintage leather carriers, the watch’s lugs are reminiscent of the brand’s iconic trunks.

The watch also has a gold dial made up of four pieces.

Voutilainen’s unique engraving technique, hand guilloché, which basically makes patterns out of straight and curved lines, is used to mark the centre of the dial, while the hour circle is adorned with a diamond-polished painting that was hand-decorated by Maryna Bossy.

The painting took 32 hours to perfect and uses 28 different colours. Hand-engraved sun and moon-inspired motifs in saffron and blue hues, modelled after Louis Vuitton’s monogram flower, adorn the lower sub-dial of the day-night disc.

With the “R” representing the power reserve display and the “6” designating the location of the previously-mentioned time zone subdial, the brand’s GMR 6 moniker alludes to Louis Vuitton’s travel heritage.

When travelling, the central hour hand can be easily adjusted with a click of the crown, and the GMT disc is designed to be set to the wearer’s “home” time.

Only five pieces of the joint timepiece will be produced by Louis Vuitton, and each one will be delivered in a custom travel trunk constructed using the House’s renowned Asniéres workshop techniques.

The Louis Vuitton Watch Prize Louis Vuitton X Kari Voutilainen LVKV-02 GMR 6 is priced at EU€550,000 (~RM2,635,061). For more information, visit Louis Vuitton’s official website.

G-SHOCK Oasis Series

Versions of the GA-2100 and GA-110 lines with an oasis motif have been unveiled by G-SHOCK, adding striking blue-green tones to iconic models that continue to define the Japanese watchmaker’s design heritage.

The blue and white colourways of the GA-2100AS-2A, GA-2100AS-5A, GA-110AS-2A, and GA-110AS-5A are all part of the Oasis collection.

Reimagining the scale of a conventional analogue watch and emphasising a heightened sense of visual dimension, the GA-110, which was first released in 2010, delivered a hyper-industrial large case design with maximalist accents that embodied the brand’s spirit of toughness.

This feeling of strength is subtly embodied in the GA-2100’s sleek exterior. Its slim, octagonal case and dial with three-dimensional moulding are inherited from the legendary DW-5000C. The case, bezel, and strap all use bio-based resin in addition to a carbon core guard structure, creating a lightweight, long-lasting material that is perfect for both land and marine sports.

Drawing inspiration from desert landscapes, multi-icoloured bodies of water, and picturesque natural settings, the collection’s theme pays homage to the wonders of both daytime and nighttime oases.

These visual cues are carried over to the dial, hour markers, and indices, which give the watch face depth and a soft-washed blue-green gradient.

Throughout the collection, standard features like a countdown timer, shock resistance, and 20-bar water resistance are back.

Five daily alarms, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a Super Illuminator LED, and world time in 30 zones are all features of the GA-2100AS-5A and GA-2100AS-2A. A 1/1000-second stopwatch and LED are features of the GA-110AS-2A and GA-110AS-5A.

The G-SHOCK Oasis series is available for purchase now at G-SHOCK’s official website, with prices ranging from US$120 to US$140 (~RM530 to ~RM618).
