KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia rebounded sharply at the open on Thursday, tracking Wall Street’s overnight rally after US President Donald Trump announced a pause in tariffs, an analyst said.
At 9.10am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 53.29 points, or 3.81%, to 1,453.88 from Wednesday’s close of 1,400.59.
The benchmark index opened 63.71 points higher at 1,464.30.
Market breadth was firmly positive, with gainers overwhelming decliners 743 to 54. A total of 180 counters were unchanged, 1,389 untraded and 10 suspended.
Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 7.87% to 40,608.45. The S&P 500 climbed 9.52% to 5,456.90, while the Nasdaq Composite surged 12.16% to 17,124.97.
