Casio has released five new “Zero to One” watches spanning five of its watch brands – CASIOTRON, G-SHOCK, EDIFICE, PRO TREK, and BABY-G – to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Casio watches.
The new watches are designed to highlight the Casio development vision of “making something from nothing,” or in other words, “going from zero to one.”
Casio entered the timepiece business in 1974 with the release of the CASIOTRON QW02, the first digital watch in the world with an automatic calendar function. Fifty years later, Casio remains committed to creating new value and providing innovative products the world has never seen before. Ever since releasing the CASIOTRON QW02, the groundbreaking wristwatch that eliminated the hassle of correcting the calendar every month, Casio has been providing innovations that make the world a better place.
The new timepieces from five Casio watch brands inspired by the “Zero to One” vision commemorate 50 years of Casio watches. Each of the new watches is based on a popular design from one of the leading Casio brands, and they all share a common black-and-gold colour scheme evoking the first flicker of light that breaks the darkness.
Special design elements give each of these timepieces a singular look befitting half-century commemorative models. The design features a motif of 0s and 1s adorning various parts, such as the inset dial, case back, and the outer perimeter of the dial. Additionally, the caseback showcases engravings of the triangular pattern that appeared on the original CASIOTRON QW02. The “Zero to One” theme evokes the first flicker of light that breaks the darkness, reflecting the Casio commitment to constant innovation, as demonstrated over the years by the many Casio advancements in timekeeping – like solar charging, standard time radio wave reception, and Smartphone Link connectivity.

CASIOTRON TRN-50ZE
This new watch is based on the TRN-50, a timepiece that re-created the design of the very first Casio wristwatch, the CASIOTRON QW02, while adding standard time radio wave reception, Mobile Link connectivity, and solar charging. A single gold-colour link stands out on the otherwise black band, and it is laser engraved with “50th ANNIVERSARY.”
G-SHOCK GMC-B2100ZE
This new watch is based on the GMC-B2100, a full-metal, shock-resistant G-SHOCK chronograph with an octagonal bezel. A single link treated with gold IP stands out on the otherwise black band, and it is engraved with “50th ANNIVERSARY.” A 0s and 1s motif applied with transparent printing adorns the outer perimeter of the face.
EDIFICE EFS-S640ZE
This new watch is based on the EFS-S640, a model featuring a case, dial, and other components incorporating carbon-fiber materials in the EDIFICE line of timepieces based on the brand concept of “Speed and Intelligence.” A gold-colour metal band loop, engraved with “50th ANNIVERSARY,” stands out on the otherwise black band. The band loop is made with Alcantara, a sophisticated material made in Italy that delivers outstanding functionality.
PRO TREK PRW-6900ZE
This new watch is based on the PRW-6900, a timepiece featuring an octagonal face in the PRO TREK line of outdoor watches. A single metal link treated with gold IP and engraved with “50th ANNIVERSARY” stands out on the otherwise black Field Composite Band, which incorporates metal inserts. Key resin components are made with bio-based resin, a material expected to help reduce environmental impact.
BABY-G BGD-S565ZE
Based on the BGD-565, a digital model with a simple, iconic form in the BABY-G line of shock-resistant watches for women, this new watch is the first in the brand to feature bio-based resin and the Tough Solar charging system. Metal band rings treated with gold IP stand out on the otherwise black band.
