Chery Premier Supply Chain Synergy Programme launched – collaboration of China, Malaysia suppliers

Chery Corporate Malaysia has launched the Chery Premier Supply Chain Synergy Programme in conjunction with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), which also saw the signing of four strategic MoUs.

The MoUs signed were between:

  • Wuhu Atech Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd and Multi-Code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd
  • Cheling Smart Mobility Technology (Wuhu) Co., Ltd and Multi-Code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd
  • Zhejiang Wanliyang Co., Ltd and Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn Bhd
  • Wuhu Qida Power Battery Systems Co., Ltd and Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn Bhd

These partnerships are focused on the supply of automotive components, technology transfer and joint investments, according to Chery Corporate Malaysia. The launch of the Premier Supply Chain Synergy Programme brings a platform to enable collaboration between 12 Chery Technology suppliers from China and 23 Malaysian suppliers, according to the company.

Through this programme, MIDA aims to unlock mutually beneficial opportunities that drive growth and innovation, in support of NAP 2020 goals of promoting local vendor development, supporting next-generation vehicles and incorporating Industry 4.0 practices, said MIDA CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid.

In February, Chery Corporate Malaysia held the groundbreaking ceremony for upcoming Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park

“By fostering these vital links, we envision a future rich with technology transfer, streamlined supply chains, and enhanced industrial capabilities, ultimately benefiting both Malaysia and Chery,” the CEO of MIDA said.

“This collaboration reflects Chery’s commitment to championing localisation and fortifying our supply chain ecosystem in Malaysia. As part of Chery’s broader strategy to deepen our roots in this market and lead the advancement of a modern, inclusive automotive industry, we are proud to work hand in hand with local suppliers to foster sustainable growth and resilience,” said Chery Corporate Malaysia EVP Leo Chen.

Part of Chery’s growing presence in Malaysia is its upcoming Smart Auto Industrial Park, which will be situated in the Beringin High-Tech Auto Valley in Hulu Selangor that is to be developed by Legenda Beringin Holding.

Earmarked with an area of 200 acres, the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park is expected to initially have a production capacity of 100,000 vehicles a year, with room to upscale to 300,000 vehicles annually, according to Chery Corporate Malaysia.
