Alongside the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8, Chery also previewed the Tiggo Cross Hybrid at the Malaysian Auto Show (MAS 2025) yesterday. According to the automaker, the new model is most compact SUV in the company’s product line.
In terms of design, it takes inspiration from the petrol variants, notably with the grille with black insert. However it features reshaped LED headlamps, and a sharper bumper design, while on its back is a full-width LED taillight bar, roof spoiler and roof rails.
Inside, it features a dual 10.25-inch screen setup – one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. Other features include faux leather upholstery, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control with rear air vents, and a powered driver’s seat. Connectivity is on point with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, while a 15W wireless charger keeps your devices powered on the go.
Powering the the Tiggo Cross HEV is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine delivering 102 PS and 125 Nm of torque. It also has two integrated electric motors, which contributing 204 PS and 310 Nm. This hybrid system is paired with a Direct Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and this model too features the Chery’s Super Hybrid Platform (CSH).
In terms of safety the hybrid comes with a comprehensive safety and driver assistance suite. It has seven airbags and ADAS package including features like rear cross traffic braking, traffic jam assist, lane centring assist, emergency lane keeping, and door opening warning, among others. These systems are backed by a 540-degree camera for enhanced visibility in tight spots.
While pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet, Chery Malaysia hinted the starting price below RM100,000, with an official launch slated for June and local assembly kicking off in July. Additionally, registration of interest (ROI) for this model is currently open.
