PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating the alleged presence of a child sexual grooming group on social media.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said they had received information on this from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on Friday, Bernama reported.
The information was mainly based on an X post, with screenshots of a Facebook group.
The police investigation will be led by the Malaysian internet crime against children unit under the sexual, women and child investigation division (D11) and the criminal investigation department at Bukit Aman.
Razarudin said they will work closely with MCMC to gather more intelligence.
Yesterday, communications minister Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that MCMC had received complaints regarding the presence of a child sexual grooming group on social media.
He said MCMC was also collaborating with Meta on the Facebook postings.
