Couple From China Discovered Hidden Spy Cam In Power Socket In Sabah Hotel Room

People, especially women, have every reason to be paranoid when it comes to possible spy cams being installed somewhere. Multiple women, unfortunately, had their privacy violated when a spy cam was discovered inside a changing room at a popular clothing store in a mall in Kuala Lumpur.

Tiny, yet HD quality cameras nowadays can easily be hidden somewhere from restrooms to changing rooms to someone’s apartment and even a hotel room. This foreign couple was horrified to have discovered that there was actually a camera hidden somewhere in their hotel room in Malaysia.

Recently, a woman posted on her Xiaohongshu account to share an experience she had with her husband during their trip to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. It was said that the couple booked their hotel room in the state via Airbnb. After checking into their room, the couple made the right call to inspect the entire room for possible hidden cameras.

The husband flashed his flashlight onto every surface until he noticed something off about a power outlet.  “There seemed to be a shiny/reflective surface. We took out the [power socket] panel and we were shocked to discover a hidden camera between the two USB ports,” the foreign woman wrote in her post. The tourist said that they immediately contacted the agent via the Airbnb app but received no response.

As seen in the photos above, the spy cam was facing the bed which made the hotel guests feel uncomfortable about getting changed. The husband covered up the power socket outlet so they could have peace of mind before hitting the hay. The next day, the couple were advised by Airbnb to move to another hotel before deciding to file a police report.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go so well at the police station due to the language barrier but luckily a local woman offered to help them file the report. Things escalated when the Airbnb agent accused the couple of not wanting to pay the RM400 for the hotel stay to which they argued saying they’d rather not go through all this trouble while on their honeymoon.

The woman was advised by authorities to delete her original post about her experience to avoid further conflict but she decided to repost it after returning to her home country to warn others to be careful when they’re travelling anywhere. After this incident, who wouldn’t be paranoid?
