The Golden Globe Awards 2025 has just wrapped up, leaving us with a satisfying lineup of winners. Along with that, we had some amazing moments from the ceremony that brought us cheers and laughter.
It’s always an eventful time with celebrities, and this year’s Golden Globes was no exception. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the viral things that happened at this year’s event!
1. Zoe Saldaña and Demi Moore are first-time winners

First up, we have Zoe Saldaña, kicking off this list with an emotionally charged moment, when the actress won her first-ever Golden Globe award. Being recognised as “Best Supporting Actress” under the motion picture category, for her role as Rita Mora Castro, a lawyer in Mexico City, in the musical “Emilia Pérez”. Her award added to the film’s many wins at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards.
Another first-time winner, we have Demi Moore as “Best Female Actor” under the “Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy” category. This is the star’s first-ever Golden Globe in her 45-year-long career, which she received for her role as Elisabeth Sparkle, a rapidly ageing actress, in 2024’s horror film “The Substance”. A true milestone in her already impressive acting career.
2. Fernanda Torres, the first Brazilian actress to win

Now making history, Fernanda Torres was nominated for — and won the Golden Globe award for “Best Female Actor”, under the “Motion Picture — Drama” category. She was recognised for her role as Eunice Paive, a woman investigating her husband’s death, in the thriller film “I’m Still Here”. Fernanda is the first Brazilian actress to have ever won in this category, so the star is clearly paving the way for young Brazilian women to follow in her footsteps.
3. Fernanda Torres’ mother was a nominee

It seems that stardom runs through Fernanda Torres’ family. You might not know, but back in 1999, her mother, Fernanda Montenegro was actually a nominee for a Golden Globe award in the same category! The mother was nominated for her role as Dora, a schoolteacher, in the drama “Central Station”. Now, 26 years later, her daughter has continued her legacy and brought home that same award.
4. Selena Gomez was a double nominee

Selena Gomez was nominated not for one, but TWO Golden Globes this year. One for the “Best Female Actor” under the “Television Series — Musical or Comedy” category, for her role as the lead, Mabel Mora in “Only Murders in the Building”. The other nomination was for “Best Supporting Actress” in the motion picture category, for her role as Jessi Del Monte in “Emilia Pérez”.
5. Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner packing on the PDA

The Golden Globe Awards weren’t just a time of celebration, there was love in the air too! Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner turned all the gossip about breaking up around, with their adorable display at the ceremony proving every rumour wrong. The lovely couple seem to be going strong, looking at two years and hopefully many more in the future.
6. Zendaya and Tom Holland’s possible engagement

Timothée and Kylie weren’t the only couple in the spotlight. Zendaya was out there as well, dazzling the world with a stunning style, as per usual. But this time, it wasn’t her outfit that people were focusing on. Many eagle-eyed fans saw her left ring finger, fully decorated with a shiny diamond ring, theorising that she might be soft-launching her engagement to fellow actor Tom Holland. This was confirmed by TMZ soon after! Congratulations to the happy couple.
7. Cynthia Erivo’s nails took 5 hours

The awards ceremony was filled with beautiful looks and styles, with tons of effort poured into the final result. Cynthia Erivo was no exception to this, showing up with an amazing nail set. She revealed that this design had actually taken five hours to be completed, showcasing her manicurist’s pure dedication to the design. Her nails are an entire work of art on their own here!
8. Pamela Anderson had no stylist or team for her look

Speaking of amazing looks, Pamela Anderson, who was nominated for an award for her role in “The Last Showgirl” as Shelly, showed up with a simple, yet captivating ensemble. Continuing with her tribute to her deceased makeup artist Alexis Vogel, she’s stayed mostly makeup-free, keeping her styling to a minimum. The star revealed that she had no stylist or “glam team” as she put it, and doing her look all on her own.
9. Celebrity lookalike winners invited to attend

Remember all those lookalike contests last year? Well, two winners were invited to the Golden Globe Awards, and got to meet their celebrity twins! Miles Mitchell (Timothée Chalamet lookalike), and Maxwell Braunstein (Glen Powell lookalike) were both on the red carpet for the ceremony.
10. Awards leaderboard

A little healthy competition is always fun and entertaining to watch. So the Golden Globes had a leaderboard at the side, keeping score of how many wins each company had received so far. A minor, but definitely amusing detail to have for those in the venue.
11. “Shōgun” and “Emilia Pérez” were the two most awarded shows

Two shows took the Golden Globes by storm, “Shōgun” and “Emilia Pérez”. The two won the most awards at the ceremony, with both receiving four awards. “Shōgun” actually won every single category it was nominated for! Altogether, both received a great achievement at the Golden Globes.

Kathy Bates was nominated for the “Best Female Actor” in the “Television — Drama” category for her role as Madeline Matlock in “Matlock”. However, after Anna Sawai was awarded the Golden Globe, Kathy was seen humorously tearing up her acceptance speech in the crowd, making light of the situation, as she wouldn’t need the speech anymore.
Well, the Golden Globe Awards were certainly eventful this year. We congratulate all the winners and nominees on their achievements, and look forward to seeing more in the future!
