Get ready for a stellar footwear drop that is sure to knock your socks off, as SBTG, Limited Edt, and ASICS have come together to create their latest “Monsoon Patrol” footwear series. Singapore’s leading sneaker boutique and sneaker designer have joined forces with Japan’s largest sporting goods company to bring you all-new yet equally familiar sneakers that you are sure to love.

When it comes to ASICS footwear, the first thing people take note of is the incredible sensation of walking and running with them. Time and time again, the brand releases a snug pair of sneakers that wrap your feet in a pillowy case, ensuring maximum comfort from the simplest of walks to the most gruelling marathons.

Among the plethora of sneakers the brand has put together, the GEL-KAYANO 14 is one of those standout pairs that truly lives up to this ethos, as, even though it was released back in 2008, it’s still loved by sneaker heads, marathon runners, and casual enjoyers to this day. And it’s for this reason that Limited Edt and SBTG have taken a great interest in this particular model of trainers.

In an interview with SBTG’s Mark Ong (aka Mr. Sabotage), he stated that the Monsoon Patrol series was inspired by Southeast Asia’s tropical weather and that the team has worked tirelessly to create comfortable shoes that can survive torrential rain. Living up to that promise, the trainers are also coated in a translucent silicone coating and features a glossy midsole that allows them to easily repel and resist water. This pair of footwear also features a detachable shroud that the user can use to withstand the wet weather typically found in the aforementioned climates.

Ong also mentioned that he was inspired by old skate shoes he used to own that featured a stash pocket that let him keep a spare key or extra cash whenever he needed it. Thus, these sneakers feature a hidden storage compartment that is zipper-sealed and designed for the detachable shroud that you can attach to the shoe via some buttons.

However, it was not just Ong’s hand that was moving in the design process. Through the various buttons, compartments, and glossing, you may still notice SBTG’s signature military design that has been stencilled on the lateral heel. An external reminder of this truly amazing collaboration. The Monsoon Patrol is available in two monochromatic colorways: “Cream” and “Black”.

Cop a pair at SBTG’s online store for RM1,065.28, with a release at ASICS’ official website when it drops again on 16th June.
