Finding love and getting married are huge responsibilities. Not everyone wants to settle down but for those who do, it’s not easy finding a partner that you want to spend the rest of your life with. With the help of social media today, finding a match is simultaneously easier and harder.
Some would sign themselves up on dating apps like Tinder while others would go the old fashion way and approach actual people in real life. Last year, a man put up banners and offered a generous reward for anyone who can find him a spouse. Looks like someone else is joining him in a search for love by auctioning himself on Facebook.
Life Coach Matthew Zachary Liu decided that it is time for him to settle down. The motivational speaker posted a lengthy post on his Facebook account about his “Chinese New Year auction”. In the post, the Singaporean man wrote that he was watching the popular K-drama “Singles Inferno” when he suddenly received a phone call from what he thought was a love scam.
As it turns out, his best friend had signed him up for a match-making agency to help find him a partner. It was then he finally decided that the time is now to put himself out there. “While others are ‘renting’ themselves out as fake boyfriends or girlfriends for CNY, imma up the game and competition. [Auctioning myself for] one person, for life, for real,” he wrote. If you think he’s joking, nope, Matthew is dead-serious about finding a spouse.

The public figure said, “I’ve come to a stage in life where I’m ready and want to meet the right person, someone who would also like to share and continue building a life together.” To encourage others to help him on his journey, Matthew is offering a reward of RM28.8k (SGD 8888) if the matchmaking turns out successful. In his post, the life coach listed down all his best qualities and what he looks for in a wife.

Scrolling through the comments, netizens are showing nothing but support for the emcee with many wishing him the best of luck in finding a spouse. Do any of you want to try introducing yourself or someone you know to Matthew?
