There’s nothing wrong with revisiting the classics.

Whether they evoke a bygone era or take you right back to your childhood, these watches from MING and G-SHOCK will transport you back to the good old days!

MING Project 21 Timepiece

MING makes a comeback with Project 21, a limited-edition piece inspired by a challenge presented to the brand’s founder, Ming Thein, during a collector’s dinner in 2023.

The independent watchmaker faced the challenge of designing a timepiece that was both feasible and unrestricted. Thein wanted to combine his own design tastes with the realities of manufacturing to produce a one-of-a-kind horological piece, and ten collectors agreed to the project.

Project 21 revolves around the Frederic Piguet 21, a movement known for its historical significance and ultra-thin profile. Since its introduction in 1925, high-end labels like Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe have utilised this movement.

This vintage movement is housed inside a 35mm monobloc case, crafted from tantalum — a highly corrosion-resistant metal with a high melting point that’s notoriously known to be incredibly difficult to machine.

The gorgeous dial, which has a 5N rose gold coated surface and a multilayered pattern encased in a fused borosilicate layer, is the focal point of the tantalum watch case.

This is suspended over a brass plate that was CVD-coated and has etched indices on top.

With only a limited release of 15 pieces available globally, this is a coveted timepiece for many collectors. It commands a price tag of CHF32,500 (~RM161,240), and is available through MING’s official website as well as select authorised retail partners.

G-SHOCK DW-6900 Collection

G-SHOCK has just turned 30! To celebrate, the iconic watch brand is bringing back a beloved classic — the updated DW-6900 watch collection.

Known for its striking, distinctive design, the 6900 has been a key component of G-SHOCK’s street culture heritage since its 1995 launch and has continued to be a pillar of the brand’s history.

With their timeless colour schemes and contemporary finishes, the new DW-6900TR models honour the original design. The references, which come in red, black, and yellow, pay homage to its rich history while embracing modern improvements like an engraved “G” button and a metal front button with a sleek mirror finish.

The band and bezel, which are made of bio-based resin, also showcase G-SHOCK’s dedication to environmental sustainability and innovation.

When the LED backlight is turned on, the LCD display honours the year the model made its debut by displaying “SINCE 1995.”

The “SHOCK RESIST” logo is surrounded by thirty stars in a custom design on the caseback.

The DW-6900 30th Anniversary Series is sold at G-SHOCK’s webstore and selected retailers for RM575.
