Grab, during its first GrabX event in Singapore earlier today, has unveiled two new agentic AI solutions: AI Merchant Assistant and AI Driver Companion, designed to help its merchant- and driver-partners optimise their businesses and productivity. These are developed in collaboration with OpenAI and new partner Anthropic, the creators of the Claude AI models.
The AI Merchant Assistant is built into the GrabMerchant app and uses Large Language Models to deliver tailored insights and operational support to merchants, many of whom are small business owners. It acts as a 24/7 business advisor, offering personalised recommendations on areas such as sales improvement, advertising, and menu updates, with plans for more proactive features to be introduced.
Meanwhile, the AI Driver Companion is designed to assist driver-partners by providing earnings insights, account management help, and access to training modules. Grab said the tool will offer real-time, actionable guidance aimed at enhancing driver experience and income potential.
Philipp Kandal, Chief Product Officer at Grab, said the new solutions are part of the company’s “AI-First with Heart” approach, combining technology with a focus on solving real-world problems for its partners. The company itself added that it will continue developing AI tools to further empower the communities it serves across Southeast Asia.
