TRIVIA:
The flag of Malaysia, also known as the Malay: Jalur Gemilang (“Stripes of Glory”),[1] is composed of a field of 14 alternating red and white stripes along the fly and a blue canton bearing a crescent and a 14-point star known as the Bintang Persekutuan (Federal Star). The 14 stripes, of equal width, represent the equal status in the federation of the 13 member states and the federal territories, while the 14 points of the star represent the unity between these entities.[2] The crescent represents Islam, the country’s state religion; the blue canton symbolises the unity of the Malaysian people; the yellow of the star and crescent is the royal colour of the Malay rulers.

This Malaysia Flag can be used in any occasion in Malaysia that needed to have a flag on it like in the Independence Day.

Hari Merdeka (Malaysian for ‘Independence Day’), also known as Hari Kebangsaan (National day), refers to the day when the Federation of Malaya’s independence from the British Empire was officially declared. At exactly 09:30 on 31 August 1957, the declaration was read by the first Chief Minister of Malaya, Tunku Abdul Rahman at the Merdeka Stadium in the presence of thousands of people including Malay Rulers, members of the federal government, and foreign dignitaries.

The day should not be confused with Hari Malaysia (‘Malaysia Day’) that commemorates the formation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963, when North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore federated with the existing states of the Federation of Malaya.
