Intel has confirmed that it has entered the risk production stage for its 18A process node. The news was made at Intel Vision which took place yesterday.
Risk production is an industry term that refers to a stage whereby manufacturers have begun refining the production process for products that have more or less reached a near-final stage of production. In this case, it’s the stage when the blue chipmaker refines the production process for its chips and more specifically, for Panther Lake. According to Kevin O’Buckley, Senior VP and General Manager of its Foundry Service, the company is scaling up from producing hundreds of 18A wafers to thousands.

Sadly, the company didn’t provide much else in terms of production details, save that the 18A Panther Lake will be a 2026 client product which is just another way of saying that we’ll only expect the processor lineup to be available starting next year. Beyond that, the Innovation amount didn’t really mention anything else, not even a hint of Arrow Lake Refresh.
