Annuar Musa says he ‘happily’ gave the MACC a full explanation on his claim and will continue cooperating with the anti-graft agency.
KUALA LUMPUR: Annuar Musa has given his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) last week over his claim that then prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin gave Umno millions of ringgit to help the party during the 2020 Sabah elections.
Annuar said he “happily” gave the MACC a full explanation on his claim and will continue cooperating with the anti-graft agency.
“I told them the full story of what happened. I thanked them and will continue to offer my cooperation with the MACC, that’s my responsibility,” he said at a press conference at the Muafakat Nasional office here.
In a video posted on TikTok on Nov 21, Annuar claimed Muhyiddin had met him while in Sabah to give him “tens of millions” of ringgit. This led to questions on social media about the origin of the funds.
“I flew to Sabah and met Muhyiddin myself. (I) entered his bedroom and told him Umno didn’t have enough money and lacked funds. Muhyiddin gave tens of millions to help Umno when in Sabah,” Annuar said in the video which was posted two days after the 15th general election (GE15).
In the video, Annuar also said allegations that the Perikatan Nasional chairman intended to “kill” Umno were “false and fabricated”.
