PETALING JAYA: Road transport department (JPJ) counters are to stay open an extra hour on Mondays and Fridays in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Penang, and every Sunday and Thursday in Johor.
“These days are categorised as high-traffic days with a significant number of customers,” JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said today. The extended hours will be implemented in stages in other states.
Fadly said a governance committee would be set up to enhance the quality of JPJ services, particularly in counter-service delivery. The committee would monitor, review, and improve services from time to time, Bernama reported.
The JPJ announcement came hours after Prime Minister Anwer Ibrahim had warned the civil service that the public was expecting better service following the government’s decision to raise salaries in the public services.
Anwar said: “The people who value such services are those who are waiting at the road transport department, Immigration office, Customs, land offices… they can evaluate if the performance is the same as before, and will surely question why the government gives a reward (salary increase) when there is no improvement in services.”
