The world continues to mourn the victims of the Jeju Air flight crash that happened on 29th December 2024 (Sunday) at the Muan International Airport in South Korea. As the incident was South Korea’s worst aviation tragedy since 1997, with 179 lives lost, the country has announced a seven-day national mourning period.
In light of the national mourning period and to show respect to the victims of the accident, many Korean celebrities have announced postponements to their plans and activities. Previously, stars like G-DRAGON (지드래곤) and SEVENTEEN’s (세븐틴) S.COUPS (에스쿱스) have also shared touching tributes to the victims through social media. Here are some of the stars who have postponed their activities in light of the recent news:
BTS (방탄소년단)

BTS’ label, BIGHIT MUSIC, announced that they would postpone the release of member Jin’s (진) variety web series, “Run Jin”. Episodes for the show were scheduled for release every Tuesday, but this week’s episode was postponed until further notice. At the same time, the group has also postponed the release of content celebrating member V’s (뷔) 29th birthday, which was scheduled for 30th December 2024 (Monday).
Huh Yunjin (허윤진) (LE SSERAFIM (르세라핌))


LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yun Jin was slated to release her self-composed solo track on 30th December 2024 (Monday) but has decided to delay the release until further notice. The group’s agency, Source Music, confirmed the postponement but did not announce a new release date.
SEVENTEEN


SEVENTEEN’s sub-unit BSS (부석순) was scheduled to release teaser content for their upcoming single album this week but has since postponed all releases in light of the mourning period. The album was scheduled for release on 8th January 2025 (Wednesday), but there are no details on whether the release will proceed as planned. The group also postponed the release of content celebrating member Joshua’s (조슈아) birthday on 30th December 2024 (Tuesday).
KickFlip (킥플립) (JYP Entertainment New Boy Group)


Following the tragedy, JYP Entertainment announced they would delay the release of the debut project content for their new boy group, KickFlip. The group planned to release the content on 1st January 2025 (Wednesday) but will now release it on 6th January 2025 (Monday).
Seungmin (승민) Stray Kids (스트레이 키즈)


JYP Entertainment also announced that they will postpone the release of the latest episode of Stray Kids member Seungmin’s “SONG By” series. The video was slated for a 29th December 2024 (Sunday) release, but there are no details on a new release date.
IVE (아이브)


IVE was scheduled to release teasers for their upcoming mini album earlier this week but has decided to delay the release to respect the national mourning period. The group will release the first title track for the new album on 13th January 2025 (Monday).
Kun (钱锟) (NCT/WayV (엔시티/웨이션브이))


NCT and WayV member Kun has also announced a new date for his birthday event to honour the national mourning period. The birthday event has been pushed back from 2nd January 2024 (Thursday) to 6th January 2024 (Monday).
Lee Seung Chul (이승철)


Singer Lee Seung Chul has also postponed his concert to observe the national mourning period. The concert was moved back from 4th January 2025 (Saturday) to 22nd March 2025 (Saturday), with all ticket details for the original date remaining valid for the rescheduled show.
Some stars cancelled their activities entirely to honour the crash victims. Singer Jay Park (박재범) cancelled his performance at a countdown party in Tokyo, while idol group n.SSign (엔싸인) cancelled their 2nd January 2025 (Thursday) showcase for their upcoming album.
