During a recent press conference to promote her new show “Polis Peronda” produced by Skop Productions, actress Puteri Sarah Liyana shared a story about the time a woman disguised herself as fellow actress Nadia Brian. According to the mother-of-two, who will be playing the role of a member of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), this particular incident happened while she was in the middle of filming the upcoming crime series.
The imposter had offered her a job to be a ‘Peneman’ VIP (VIP companion) for a fee of up to RM15k. As reported by Harian Metro, the 38-year-old said that the incident happened last week and she initially assumed that it was just an invitation for work purposes only.
The mystery caller had asked what time the actress would finish work and proceeded to ask her to meet with someone known as Datuk Shahrul at 10pm later that day. “I was actually confused by the instructions given. What am I meeting this person for? Is there a business offer? Is he a new producer?” she said.
However, when the mystery caller noted that photos and videos were prohibited, it stirred up more confusion to the public figure. She was informed by the unknown caller that she would receive RM15k to accompany a VIP on a coffee date to which the 38-year-old actress firmly denied and told the caller she doesn’t do that.
At first, Puteri thought the woman was actress Nadia Brian because their voices sounded quite similar to each other and the fact that both of them had recently met at Janna Nick’s wedding anniversary event. Suspecting something was wrong, she immediately contacted Nadia to ask her for clarification if she had just changed her phone number.
Nadia confirmed that she hadn’t but informed Puteri about individuals posing as her. Coincidentally, being at the Gombak District Police Headquarters (IPD) to film the “Polis Peronda” drama, the public figure went to file a police report about what she had just experienced.
There hasn’t been any news regarding the incident, and it’s unclear if the caller has been apprehended for inappropriate behavior. We hope the mother-of-two actress remains safe and doesn’t fall prey to incidents like this.
