The TTDI (Taman Tun Dr Ismail) MRT Station will be going through a name change next year and the station will soon be called TTDI-Deloitte – but how did this name change come to be?

According to reports, international accounting and financial firm Deloitte Malaysia has earned naming rights for the TTDI MRT station following an agreement with MRT Corporation. This is part of MRT Corporation’s Station Naming Rights Programme, which provides opportunities for corporations or brands to bid for the right to name a station and transform the interior to reflect the brand’s corporate identity. The name change will be effective 1st January 2024.

The TTDI-Deloitte MRT station will be part of the MRT Kajang Line network, which serves over 200,000 daily riders. Chief executive officer of MRT Corp, Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim, said the station naming rights programme is another channel for the company to secure funds to maintain and improve the stations. Deloitte Malaysia CEO Yee Wing Peng also said including the Deloitte brand on the MRT station will boost morale and instil pride in employees working in the TTDI area.

Netizens have reacted to the new name for the station, showing positive responses to the news. Some noted that it’s a great opportunity for both the MRT station and Deloitte, saying the partnership would allow for a well-maintained MRT station and provide marketing for the firm. Some also joke that the other Big Four firm, namely PwC Malaysia, should consider getting the rights to name another MRT station to compete with Deloitte.

This is not the first time a train station along the Klang Valley Integrated Transit System has changed its name. Earlier this year, the KL Sentral LRT station changed its name to KL Sentral redONE, following a strategic partnership between Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd and redONE Network Sdn Bhd.
