Man caught on video deliberately throwing himself onto moving car – install a dashcam to foil scammers
Another instance of a pedestrian deliberately throwing himself onto a moving car has been captured on camera, with the footage being posted in a Facebook group. Based on the post, the incident took place on September 17, 2024 on a road near Bandar Sungai Long heading towards Taman Rakan/Balakong.
In the 10-second dashcam footage, we can see the video car – Honda CR-V – closely following a Toyota Corolla as they approach an intersection and a man standing in the middle of the road. Most would assume the man is simply waiting for the cars to pass before crossing the road fully, but that wasn’t the case.
As the Corolla passes the intersection, the man quickly steps out in front of the video car before getting hit. Things get worse for the video car, who is then rear-ended by a Perodua Myvi following behind.
This isn’t an “accident,” as the man clearly had his eyes on the CR-V coming his way before deliberately stepping into the vehicle’s path, even intentionally turning his back before impact to presumably mitigate the “damage” to himself. It’s a scam that will likely see the “victim” attempt to extort money from a panicked driver, which isn’t something unheard of because we reported on a similar case in the past.
So, what can you do to protect yourself from such incidents? Well, there’s nothing that can be done to prevent a man from throwing himself onto your moving car and cause a scene after. However, if you have a dashcam installed, it provides you with the credibility needed to foil such scammers, especially when the police get involved.
