New Covid-19 cases 3,231 last week, down by 14.2%

A total of 5,026,677 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the country since January 2020.

PETALING JAYA: The number of new Covid-19 cases dropped by 14.2% last week to 3,231 from 3,767 recorded the week before, says health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

In his update for the week ending Jan 7, Noor Hisham said the average number of active cases during the week decreased by 10.8% to 11,278, from the 12,647 cases previously.

“Recoveries dropped by 35.6% from 5,869 cases to 3,781,” he said in a statement.

The number of deaths dropped by 4.5% to 21 compared with 22 the week before, bringing the cumulative number of fatalities to 36,874.

He said a total of 5,026,677 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the country since January 2020.
