PETALING JAYA: A former aide to Muhyiddin Yassin has insisted that the procurement of the Covid-19 vaccines were done by the book despite claims that they were purchased without the agreement of the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

Marzuki Mohamad also said that the matter was referred to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in 2021 and cited a 521-page long report to back up his statement.

“The PAC chairman at that time was Wong Kah Woh, a DAP MP,” he said in a Facebook post.

“(Former MP) Nurul Izzah Anwar was also a PAC member.”

Earlier today, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said some parts of the procurement of Covid-19 vaccines were signed off by the relevant ministers without the agreement of the AGC.

Anwar also said the health ministry would be tabling a white paper on the procurement of the vaccines and the costs incurred.

Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin has since dismissed the claim, saying all purchases made by the Perikatan Nasional government were brought to the Cabinet.

“Therefore, the AGC would be privy and (would have) provided their comments. (The) procurement was signed off by KKM (the health ministry).”
