Fans were shocked when news broke that Malaysian singer Queenzy Cheng (莊群施) had suddenly passed away yesterday (28th November) at the young age of 37. The singer’s passing was announced through her social media pages and condolences have since been pouring in from friends and fans of the late star.
A memorial service for Queenzy will take place in her hometown of Kangar, Perlis, until 1st December before the funeral ceremony on 2nd December. According to China Press, family members still cannot accept Queenzy’s sudden death. The singer’s mother, Yang Shuai Li (transliteration), has reportedly been crying non-stop ever since receiving the devastating news and wouldn’t leave her daughter’s side.

Queenzy’s sister, Cheng Qing Jun (transliteration) confirmed that the singer’s death was caused by a ruptured berry aneurysm, also known as a ruptured saccular aneurysm. According to medical studies, around 50% of ruptured berry aneurysm cases result in death. While the cause varies, doctors mainly attribute overwhelming stress and untreated high blood pressure as the cause of a ruptured berry aneurysm. Common symptoms include severe headaches, nausea and loss of consciousness.
Before her death, Queenzy fell unconscious after claiming she felt dizzy and nauseous. Just a few minutes after the ambulance arrived and performed first aid, the vocalist was pronounced dead. However, her father, Cheng Jin Fa (transliteration), said his daughter took good care of her health and never mentioned any physical problems.

We extend our condolences to Queenzy’s family and friends, and we sincerely hope they will find peace in her passing.
