When Taiwanese internet celeb and online nutritionist Ricky Chang Jia Xiang (張家祥) and his girlfriend of six years, Jay Chen aka 白姐, got engaged in 2022, fans were elated and happy for them. But, recently, Jay Chen announced devastating news: the couple had apparently separated earlier this year.
The news came as a shock to many, but Jay Chen dropped a bigger bombshell when she revealed why they hadn’t worked out. Allegedly, after their engagement, Ricky Chang had asked for an “open sexual relationship” with “three wives and four concubines”, leaving her and fans stunned.

In a now deleted Instagram post, Jay Chen claimed she had Ricky had actually separated as early as July 2023. Jay stated that prior to their decision, there had been warning signs. But, what tipped the scales was supposedly when Ricky asked for permission to continue having sexual relationships with others, despite the fact that they were engaged. Ricky’s suggestion went against all Jay believed.
To make matters worse, he later proposed an open sexual relationship. “He explained that we (would still be) together, but we can have different sexual relationships, and gave examples of people in and outside of (our) circle who (live) like this,” Jay supposedly said. She claimed his request was contrary to his image, but, Ricky Chang simply insisted he was “this kind of person” and asked her to face reality.
Eventually, they came to a compromise. Ricky agreed to be “a good man” for a month and a half, to take care of and to love his family. Jay on the other hand decided to focus on her career and travelled abroad. “The fact is that, four days after (that), he was a single man who began to enjoy life with various opposite sexes,” Jay scathingly claimed.
Upon her return to Taiwan, Ricky allegedly asked three things of her. The first was to give him the pet dog, the second was to ask Jay Chen to leave the company they had started, and the third, was to officially announce their breakup. Being kicked out of the company distressed her the most, feeling the sting further when he compensated her with a sum of 300,000 yuan.
Jay had allegedly funneled all her income into the company and an account under Ricky Chang’s name as she believed in his kindness and commitment prior to their arguments. As such, she was supposedly not officially contracted as an agent and nor was she officially a shareholder of their company. “And now, it seems my trust has been a stupid joke,” she lamented.

But, Ricky Chang was equally quick to respond to the issue on his Facebook. In fact, he claimed Jay Chen had been the one to bring up an “open relationship” early this year, requesting for a chance to get together with the opposite sex prior to their marriage. He also discovered Jay flirting with another man, claiming they did have sex together at a hotel, which left Ricky feeling unbalanced.
Relationship issues were one thing, but Ricky also alleged that Jay Chen was controlling at work. Allegedly, she would get upset if he did not refer to her correctly in front of their employees. She would supposedly fine him, or threaten to harm herself if he upset her. Ricky claimed he did a lot to keep her happy, including buying her high-end products. But, Ricky himself admitted he was not happy with their relationship.
After countless arguments, Ricky and Jay both ended their volatile relationship. Apparently, despite agreeing breaking up was for the best, they also talked about getting together again. But, their arguments got physical at some point when Jay supposedly destroyed Ricky’s equipment and slapped him 20 times while Ricky pulled Jay out of the house and threw her out.

Netizens are now torn between the duo, with some wondering why they had gone to such lengths to ruin each other. But, notably enough, both have since deleted their posts respectively and are currently keeping mum on the issue.
Well, that would definitely have been an unhappy marriage so in a way, they did dodge a bullet with each other. It’s simply sadder that they could not separate on more agreeable and amiable terms.
