We often think monks are holy, religious people thanks to years of them portraying themselves as such. Unfortunately, this bra-wearing monk in Thailand seems to be helping in destroying this image.
Recently, a male monk from a temple in the Khon Kaen province was spotted flaunting a bra. The scandalous sight caused an outcry among the people as many suspected him of soliciting sex to other monks!
A photo showing a young monk parading a bra has gone viral. From the photo, the monk seems to be seated in a temple room with other monks. While he is wearing a robe, he notably has removed the top half, and is holding a black bra up to his chest.
Unfortunately, the photo is accompanied by allegations from locals. They claim the young monk has been providing sexual services to other monks in the temple. He has also supposedly been dressing up as a lady to visit nightclubs. Others alleged the temple’s abbot also knew about the monk’s appalling activities, but has been choosing to turn a blind eye.
However, it has since been discovered that young monk is actually a senior at the temple’s school. The school claims the photo was not taken on school grounds. Additionally, the principal clarified that the novice has not returned to the school since a traditional summer Buddhist festival. But, the incident has apparently prompted the school to talk to the novice’s parents, make a report and condemn the incident.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time monks have jeopardized their reputation. Last year, a group of them were caught drinking and having sexual relationships which horrified many. We aren’t sure what will become of the young monk, but we hope things will work out for him.
