Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming (黄晓明) recently made headlines when he finally admitted to dating Chinese influencer Ye Ke (叶珂) after years of speculation. However, the couple has been under scrutiny following their announcement, with the social media personality receiving most of the criticism.

One of the many things netizens are critical of is Ye Ke’s looks, which many have since compared to Huang Xiaoming’s ex-wife, Angelababy (杨颖). Many argued that her looks seemed unnatural and that she had many procedures done. Some even dug up old photos of the influencer to prove their point. In response, Ye Ke went on a live stream to clear the air about her looks.

During the live broadcast, Ye Ke admitted to the plastic surgery allegations but emphasised that she had only done minor procedures. She said, “I only did minor surgeries but not much. I’m not a tech (fake) person from head to toe. It’s only a bit of technology, about 40%!”. However, the entrepreneur never clarified what procedures she had done. Nevertheless, the 32-year-old’s bold statement received mixed reactions.

Unsurprisingly, Ye Ke received backlash for her comment because even though she admitted to the plastic surgery claims, many believe she intentionally lowered the number to save face because her past photos show a big difference from her current appearance. Others argued that she shouldn’t be so proud of only having altered 40% of her looks because she still went under the knife and isn’t a “natural beauty”.

However, some netizens did show support for Ye Ke after the backlash, with many saying she’s brave for admitting to getting plastic surgery because many celebrities would instead lie. Some even took a jab at Angelababy, bringing up the fact that she went as far as to get her face “verified” by a plastic surgeon to try and disprove the plastic surgery rumours.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with plastic surgery – but what are your thoughts on Ye Ke’s comment? Do you think it was necessary to admit to going under the knife?
