(Video) Former CLC Member Sorn Shares Fasting Experience During Ramadan

Ramadan isn’t just for Muslims. Even non-Muslim celebrities have joined their Muslim friends during the fasting month, sharing their experiences and tips on how others might give it a try, even if just for a day. However, a K-pop idol joining their Muslim fans in participating in fasting during Ramadan is basically unheard of, but this singer decided to give it a go.

Former CLC member Sorn (쏜/สร) posted a YouTube video yesterday (Wednesday, 26th March) to share her experience of fasting for 1-day during Ramadan while she’s travelling. Was she successful? Let’s find out:

Sorn first explained the reason for wanting to try fasting, saying, “I wanted to show my support cause I know I have a lot of Muslim fans out there. I also have a Muslim family member, and my manager is also Muslim, so since we’re together right now, I thought I’d do this with her for 1 day.” She also revealed that she has tried fasting twice before, but did not specify when exactly the last time she did it.

The idol woke up around 4am in her hotel room in Indonesia for sahur, having noodles, specifically Maggi Goreng. After the meal with her manager, the two returned to bed. Upon checking out and heading to the airport, everything seemed to be going well; however, by 3pm, when they were due to board the plane, they were informed that their flight to Singapore had been delayed to 7:40pm. As an apology, the airport staff gave her and her manager boxes of KFC meals.

“We can’t eat them. They’re warm, at least, but we can’t eat the meal, so what’s the point?” she complained while trying to resist temptation and distract herself by exploring the airport. Thankfully, Sorn had a book with her to pass the time in the lounge while waiting for the flight. Once it was time, the Thai artist broke her fast with her manager by enjoying a buffet meal at the airport.

After arriving in Singapore, the 28-year-old shared her thoughts on her fasting experience for the day. “I originally planned to fast while still in Indonesia, but we had a whole day of shooting, so I was worried that hunger would affect my work. Today, since we were moving around a lot, I didn’t have time to focus on how hungry I was. I tried not to complain too much and just endured it,” she said.

The celebrity added that the experience had made her appreciate food more and express her respect for her Muslim fans for being able to fast for an entire month. Before ending the video, Sorn expressed her desire to participate in Ramadan again, but hopefully, for a longer period if possible.
