The 2024 Cannes Film Festival got interesting as former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland was seen having an altercation with a security guard as she was ushered up the stairs. The quick interaction was so intense it left fans dying to know what was said.
Many lip readers on TikTok have tried to read the entertainer’s lips to get the full story of what happened. From what was shown, Kelly was in the midst of posing for pictures as one of the security guards was persistent in ushering her up the stairs and by accident, stepped on her dress.
The 43-year-old performer politely looked over to inform the guard of what happened and the security guard muttered what seemed to be her apologising. Later on, the Cannes guard turned her head and said something else that was not seen on camera which sent the mother-of-two in full rage.
It was shown from the start that the Cannes security guards were being too pushy when trying to escort celebrities up the stairs, moments before the showdown occurred. The actress was trying to pose for the paparazzi to take her picture and the security guard could be seen invading Kelly’s space and the “Bootylicious” singer was not having it.
Her fans of course share the same sentiment as many commented defending the artist by agreeing that the guard was too pushy and invading her personal space. Others commented that her reaction was valid and that they would have done the same if faced with a similar situation.
As for what was said by the singer during the altercation, expert forensic lip reader Jeremy Freeman confirmed with news outlets that Kelly told the pushy security guard, “Do not talk to me like that, you’re not my mother. Don’t talk to me like that”. Unfortunately, what was said by the guard has not been revealed but it must’ve been something enticing to set the entertainer blazing.
However, the singer was still irked as she reached the top of the steps before entering the “Marcello Mio” premiere, as she turned around and yelled “You still don’t talk to me like that”, according to the expert lip reader. The Grammy winner did not nor has she ever cared if she was coming off as a “diva”. While we won’t know for sure what truly happened, it seems that Kelly Rowland will always speak her mind and we’re here for it.
