While ZUS Coffee might have had a few misses over the years, the company has received compliments for their marketing campaigns and support for local talents. Recently, local artist Nas Suha unveiled his collaboration with the coffee brand, prompting praise from netizens.
The artist took to Twitter to share the news about the collaboration. In his tweet, Nas wrote, “Hi I’m Nas, a mural artist from Malaysia & this is my biggest artwork in 2024, created for Zus Coffee.” The mural, located at the ZUS Coffee outlet in Taman Jubilee, Ipoh, depicts a woman of Chinese descent, wearing a traditional garment and holding on to a kopitiam-style mug. The artwork also includes floral motifs, like several hibiscuses on the mug.

According to Nas, the artwork took one month to complete due to bad weather conditions and his materials getting stolen. The artist also shared his process, including a look at the drafted artwork that ZUS Coffee approved. In addition to the giant mural outside the building, Nas did several murals inside the cafe. The collaboration spanned several months overall, with the proposal stage taking three months.
Nas’ post has since gone viral and attracted many comments from Malaysian netizens. Many praised his work, saying they’ll visit the store someday to support his work. Some Ipoh locals said the mural is very eye-catching in person and brightens the surrounding area. Others also commended ZUS Coffee for collaborating with local artists and supporting the local art industry.

Interestingly, Nas revealed that another notable coffee brand previously reached out to collaborate but only offered to pay him through drink vouchers. The brand would later face a mass boycott from the public. The artist’s revelation prompted criticism towards the brand, lamenting its lack of respect towards the creative industry. Some even said the brand deserves the boycott they’re facing.
Nas definitely deserves the praise he’s getting for his work and props to ZUS Coffee for supporting the local art community. We hope the two will continue to collaborate for future projects.
