Social media is an excellent platform for those looking to launch a career in a particular field. Some people share their musical talents in the hope of attracting the attention of a record label, while others showcase their videography skills for a chance to direct a major project. Malaysia also has some very talented content creators who are on their way to global stardom.
One of them is Sofian, better known as Sofyank96 on social media, who is recognised for his high-quality visual effects (VFX) videos. He has produced some truly impressive work and has even been compared to his idol, Zach King. Despite his abilities, the public figure still believes he has a long way to go before creating content that matches Hollywood’s VFX standards. Here’s why:
Over the weekend, Sofian posted a video of his latest VFX project. The influencer was seen standing in front of a green screen in a studio, before the scene transitioned to him standing in the middle of a desert, where he was attacked by a Transformer-like robot. “Please pray that I’ll be able to do some Hollywood-quality VFX,” he captioned the post.
As always, his fans were impressed by his latest project, with many praising the incredible quality of his work. Others were curious to learn more about the behind-the-scenes process of creating the content. However, one netizen on Twitter asked what challenges he is currently facing that might be preventing him from producing Hollywood-quality VFX.

The 28-year-old explained that the main obstacles preventing him from achieving his dreams are the high cost of the tech equipment needed to produce such content, as well as his own skill level, which he believes still has much room for improvement. “It’s not impossible. I’m confident that I’ll get there one day. Another thing is that when you’re playing with CGI, apart from modelling and animation, rendering also takes up a lot of your time,” he added.
Although Sofian’s journey is far from over, there’s little doubt he’s on track to become one of Malaysia’s leading VFX artists, especially with an impressive résumé that includes promo videos for Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”, featuring actor Paul Rudd, as well as local blockbusters like “Polis EVO” and “Abang Long Fadil 3”.
