Are you the cook-at-home-every-day type of person, or do you think eating out is the way to go? Maybe this incident will make you choose the former from now on.

On Sunday (18th May 2025), a Malaysian woman was revolted to find an extra protein ingredient in her Tom Yam soup: a whole frog! The woman, only known by her Facebook alias, Aisah Aziz, shared a video of her scooping the spoon-sized frog that was submerged in her meal. As she scooped out the frog from the bowl, Aisah shrieked in fear and disgust.

Aisah shares that she and her husband were out for a meal when they noticed something peculiar in her soup. Initially thought to be a mushroom, turned out to be the little critter, she writes, “I thought he was joking, but when I scooped it up myself, it was a frog and I was so traumatised I couldn’t eat any rice afterwards. Even now, my cheeks still feel tingly from the shock”.

Adding more fuel to the fire, she received a heartfelt apology from the staff when they were informed. “Even when they did apologise, they just looked into the bowl, then looked at me like it wasn’t a big deal. It wasn’t only after I stood there shaking with disgust and fear did they came back and gave a proper apology”. Thankfully, Aisah informed that she was comped for her meal in the end.

Netizens were clearly repulsed by the finding, with a user advising others on how to check for a store’s cleanliness. Facebook user Mohamad Shafiq Effendi comments, “You need to inspect the toilets of these Tom Yam stalls before eating there. If the toilet is dirty, so is their whole compound”.

The original poster did not reveal the location and has since taken down the post. However, the video has been reposted by other netizens. Watch the incident below:
