(Video) Malaysians React To Sunway Lagoon Waiting Area’s Water Leakage

It appears that Sunway can’t catch a break. Underneath the glitz and glam, there have been some troubles and fumbles. As the skies opened up in the late monsoon season, we got a taste of  Sunway Velocity turning into Sunway Lagoon 2.0 when rainwater was seen leaking through the ceiling.

Going from one incident to another, this time, it’s Sunway Lagoon that’s been facing criticism. Over the weekend, a video has been circulating online showing one of the roofs of the waiting areas of the water park experiencing terrible leakage.

In a video posted by Malaysia Shopping Mall, the blue tint of the sky can be seen poking through the roof lining between the wooden beams of the waiting area at the Captain Splash Adventure attraction. We can see dripping rainwater hit the ground near the faux brick and glass railing, while brightly coloured spiralling waterslides fill the background.

Of course, this has led many Malaysians to voice out their concerns over safety as well as maintenance. In the netizen’s scathing and critical comments on the viral post, a few also voiced the unjust price of the Sunway Lagoon theme park compared to the lack of observable efficacy in the end.

At the time of writing, neither Sunway Lagoon nor Sunway Group have issued a statement regarding the incident. Sunway and other malls are no strangers to such incidents unfortunately, there seems to be a greater epidemic of lack of maintenance in Malaysian malls.

In the past, the Sunway Pyramid’s ice-skating ring leaked into the parking lot, and more recently, the roof collapsed in the KL Gateway Mall due to severe rain. What are your thoughts on this issue?
