Petronas Towers
Twin skyscrapers. Also known as the Petronas Twin Towers. Were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004 and remain the tallest twin towers in the world replacing World Trade Center in New York.
KL Tower
A tall tower. Construction was completed on 1 March 1995. Used for communication purposes and features an antenna that reaches 421 metres (1,381 feet). The roof of the pod is at 335 metres (1,099 feet). Contains a revolving restaurant.
Aquaria KLCC
An oceanarium. Opened in 2005. Has 60,000 square feet (5,600 m2) in two levels with a 90-metre (300 ft) underwater tunnel. Houses over 250 different species and over 5,000 land and aquatic animals from Malaysia and around the world.
Kuala Lumpur Bird Park
A 20.9-acre (8.5 ha) public aviary. Houses more than 3000 birds representing more than 200 species in an enclosed aviary. 90% are local birds and 10% were imported from overseas. Has an annual average of 200,000 visitors.
Batu Caves
A limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in the Gombak district. One of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia.
Jamek Mosque
One of the oldest mosques in the city. Located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak River and was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback. Opened in 1909. Was built on the first Malay burial ground in the city.
Sri Mahamariamman Temple
The oldest and richest Hindu temple in the city. Founded in 1873, it is situated at edge of Chinatown in Jalan Bandar. In 1968, a new structure was built, featuring the ornate ‘Raja Gopuram’ tower in the style of South Indian temples.
KLCC Park
A public park located in the vicinity of Suria KLCC. Designed to provide greenery to Petronas Twin Towers and the areas surrounding it. Was designed to showcase a heritage of tropical greenery by integrating man’s creation with nature.
Istana Budaya
The Palace of Culture, founded in September 1999. The main city’s venue for all types of theatre including musical theatre, operetta, classical concert and opera from local and international performances. Located next to the National Art Gallery.
Pusat Sains Negara
A science centre. Opened on 29 November 1996. The building resembles a truncated cone capped with a geodesic dome. Has an environmental odyssey, pathways to discovery, future world and thinking machines.
