This is the flag of Malaysia, and here’s the flag of the United States.
Well, The United States was the first to adopt this flag design in 1777.
Over time, as more states joined the Union, additional stars were added until there were 50 stars in total representing every state in the country.
Fast forward to 1947, Malaysia was nearing its independence and organized a nationwide competition
to design its new flag, inspired by the British East India Company’s flag and incorporated elements from the U.S. flag
but how did these two countries end up with such identical flags?
It featured 11 red and white stripes, with a blue canton containing a yellow crescent and an 11-point star
