Malaysia has been getting a lot of love from international acts lately, with non-stop concerts and tour announcements. Unfortunately, with all the good news also come some bad news. If you haven’t heard, the Good Vibes Festival (GVF) has cancelled its 2024 edition out of respect for the King’s coronation ceremony – but they’re not the only one.
In a statement, Future Sound Asia shared that they had to cancel the two-day music festival, initially scheduled for 20th and 21st July (Saturday and Sunday), out of respect for the Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, which is happening on 20th July. The organiser explained that they could reschedule the program – but GVF involves multiple touring acts, so they had no choice but to cancel the entire festival. All ticket purchasers will automatically receive full refunds to the payment method used for their purchase.
Unfortunately, GVF isn’t the only entertainment event affected by the royal event. iMe Malaysia also announced that Wilber Pan’s (潘玮柏) Malaysia concert, initially scheduled for 20th July, has been cancelled. The Mandopop star was slated to perform at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting, as part of his Mad Love Tour but also had to cancel the concert due to the coronation ceremony. The good news is that iMe Malaysia will hold the concert on a new date. In the meantime, ticket holders can contact iMe Malaysia regarding refunds.
Thankfully, there is also good news for fans of South Korean singer 10CM (십센치). The singer-songwriter’s Kuala Lumpur concert was also initially slated for 20th July. However, Banyak Bagus Entertainment announced that the concert would proceed, but on a new date (21st July, Sunday). The venue will remain the same, and all current tickets will be transferred automatically to the new date. However, fans who can’t make it to the rescheduled date can request a refund from the organiser.
