PETALING JAYA: Deputy domestic trade and cost of living secretary-general Zakaria Shaaban has been named as the immigration department’s new director-general.

His appointment was announced on the department’s Facebook page today.
He takes over from Ruslin Jusoh, who has held the post since March 2023.
Zakaria, who has been in the civil service for more than 25 years, had previously served in several other ministries and government departments as well as agencies, including the higher education ministry, the public services department, and the National Disaster Management Agency.
