2024 MG HS SUV Malaysian pricing announced – 1.5L turbo, 7DCT, Standard at RM129,900, Lux at RM145,900
SAIC Motor Malaysia has announced the official pricing of the MG HS, which was previewed back in August. The SUV goes on sale here in two variant forms, these being the Standard and Lux, and the MSRP pricing (before registration fees, without insurance) for them are:
- MG HS Standard – RM129,900
- MG HS Lux – RM145,900
In celebration of the brand’s 100th anniversary, SAIC Motor Malaysia has also announced an exclusive RM5,000 introductory rebate offer for both the Standard and Lux variants.
Measuring in at 4,574 mm long, 1,876 mm wide, 1,664 mm tall, with 2,720 mm-long wheelbase, the HS – which is the facelifted, first-generation model that has been around since 2020 – is set to go up against the Proton X70, Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V.
It’s equipped with a 1.5 litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine offering 162 PS (160 hp or 119 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 250 Nm of torque from 1,700 to 4,400 rpm, with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sending drive to the front wheels. The powertrain is also used in the HS sold in Indonesia and Thailand.
Standard kit on the base model includes automatic LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillights, roof rails, a rear spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels, black leather upholstery and powered front seats (six-way driver and four-way passenger).
The SUV also features a seven-inch multi-info display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a reverse camera, four speakers and single-zone automatic air-conditioning with PM2.5 air filter and rear vents. Safety equipment included six airbags and the usual array of passive safety systems (ABS, EBD, VDC), corner brake control, hill start assist and hill descent control.
The Lux adds on a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, red-painted brake calipers, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, MG iSMART telematics, a 360-degree camera, sports seats and pedals, a ‘Super Sport’ drive mode, paddle shifters, automatic wipers and a six-speaker sound system and ups the wheels to 18-inch diamond-cut alloys.
There’s also MG Pilot, with the suite of driver assistance systems containing front collision warning, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, lane departure warning and prevention, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert and door opening warning.
Four exterior colours are available for the MG HS, and these are Dynamic Red, Arctic White, Black Pearl and Camden Grey. The MG HS comes with a five-year/unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and a seven-year/unlimited mileage powertrain (engine and transmission) warranty.
