German watch manufacturer, Laco, has always been held in high esteem, but its latest collection – which includes the Kiel Sport, the Augsburg Grün, and the Aachen Grün – is making timepiece aficionados do the dab.

Each of the watches boasts superior timekeeping capabilities and a stylishly rugged case, so much so that they border on being works of functional art. Take a gander and see for yourself:

Kiel Sport

Say hello to the Kiel Sport, another chronograph Laco has added to its range. The characteristic DNA of the product line is now complemented by a sporty accent. In contrast to the already established Kiel.2 models, the Kiel Sport offers a unidirectional rotating bezel. Fans of the Pforzheim watch manufacturer are already familiar with and appreciate this equally functional and distinctive feature from the squad watch series.

Thanks to state-of-the-art materials, robustness, and precision, the new timepiece with stopwatch function is a stylish and reliable companion both in everyday life and during outdoor sports activities – captivating not only pilots but all those who appreciate the extraordinary.

As one of the few manufacturers of the legendary observation watches, Laco has been deeply rooted in the history of pilot watches for decades. The renowned German brand once again sets standards in this particularly popular watch category with the new timepiece.

With authentic features such as the matte case surface, strong contrasts, or the pilot triangle at 12 o’clock, the distinctive design of the Kiel Sport reflects the essence of Laco and its connection to aviation. The clear pilot watch aesthetics of the dial are also unmistakable, deliberately kept matte black to ensure quick and glare-free time display from any angle.

The bright indices, Arabic numerals, and hands, with the hour and minute hands additionally thermally blued, create clear contrasts under the anti-reflective sapphire crystal and harmoniously integrate into the Tricompax design. The generous coating with intensely luminescent Superluminova C3 on hands, numerals, indices, and the pilot triangle ensures optimal readability even under adverse lighting conditions.

The minute scale of the unidirectional rotating bezel is also coated with this luminous material, glowing greenish in the darkness. For exceptional functionality and unsurpassed durability, the insert is made of high-quality ceramic. This ceramic bezel offers numerous advantages, including exceptional hardness and scratch resistance, colour stability, and corrosion resistance. The rotating bezel is designed to be particularly grippy for easy operation even with gloves, giving the watch an overall technical look. The 60-click ratcheting allows for precise adjustment of time or other measurements in small one-minute increments.

In contrast to the Kiel.2 models, the 43-millimetre stainless steel case has a dark sandblasted surface. This surface treatment not only prevents reflections and contributes to an expressive, monochrome appearance but also connects with the other Laco pilot watches that share this special feature. Inside the pressure-tested case, up to 10 ATM, beats the automatic chronograph calibre Laco 500, based on the Swiss Sellita SW500. In addition to the chronograph functions, it also displays the day of the week and the date. After fully wound, the Laco 500 guarantees an impressive power reserve of 56 Hours.

The authentic pilot watch comes with a black calf leather strap with light stitching. This is rounded off by a dark sandblasted pin buckle with the Laco logo, which echoes the finish of the case.

This distinctive-sporty timepiece is now available for RM13,130 at Laco authorised retailer Red Army Watches at Pavilion KL & 1Utama Shopping Centre; and online at www.redarmywatches.com.my.

Augsburg Grün & Aachen Grün

With the “Augsburg Grün” and “Aachen Grün” Laco presents not only two new models, but also the fourth edition of their coloured limited editions. A matte green dial, polished details, and a vintage-style leather strap give the Laco classics a fresh appeal. Limited to just 250 pieces each, the new models in the mechanical entry-level segment continue the series of previous editions – including timepieces with a taupe-coloured dial, an olive variant, and the winter model “Polar” with a white dial.

For the variants presented this summer, the dark green of the dial conveys vibrancy and a Mediterranean flair. In contrast, the straightforward typography of the numerals and indices clearly marks the new models as classic pilot watches at first glance. The “Augsburg Grün” follows the typical type A dial pattern with hour, minute, and central second, ensuring quick and clear readability. The “Aachen Grün” features the type B pattern, with minutes on the outer ring, giving it a slightly more technical yet equally authentic appearance at first glance.

The stainless steel case with a diameter of 42 mm combines brushed and polished  elements. Fine details, such as the polished bezel and the partially polished crown, distinguish the new edition from classic pilot watches, giving it a stylish aesthetic that pairs well with both casual outfits and elegant attire.

The silver polished frame hands add fresh accents and harmonise with the case. The hands, as well as the bright white numerals and indices, are filled with Superluminova C1 luminescent material, making the watches radiant highlights – impressive by day and night.

Durable sapphire crystal provides a clear view on the dial. Upon request, Laco offers double-sided anti-reflective coating, which minimises distracting light reflections and thereby improves readability, especially in bright light or direct sunlight. The bluish shimmer of the anti-reflective coating enhances contrast, making the details of the dial even more discernible.

Precision is ensured by the automatic movement Laco 2S (based on Miyota 82S0), which becomes an eye-catcher through the large sapphire crystal case back. A power reserve of 42 hours and a stop-seconds function make it a reliable timekeeper. Opting for the upgrade to the Laco 31 movement (based on Miyota 8315) even offers a runtime of over 60 hours, as well as thermally blued screws.

The grey vintage-look leather strap is intentionally understated, but it picks up the colour of the dial with its green decorative stitching. It’s complemented by a pin buckle adorned with a Laco engraving. The case back is also engraved and reveals the serial number of the editions, which are limited to only 250 pieces each.

The “Augsburg Grün 42” and “Aachen Grün 42” combine a fresh and confident look with their dark green dial and polished details, while maintaining the traditional design of Laco pilot watches.

These limited edition models are now available for RM2,416 at Laco authorised retailer Red Army Watches at Pavilion KL & 1Utama Shopping Centre; and online www.redarmywatches.com.my.
