Aston Martin F1 teams up with Realme for GT 7 Dream Edition phone – launching May 27, multi-year deal
Car-themed phones are pretty rare these days and collaborations with Formula 1 teams are even rarer still. But Realme has done it with the forthcoming GT 7 Dream Edition, which has been developed together with the Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team, the latter having signed a multi-year “strategic license agreement” with the Chinese phone maker.
The GT line is the Realme’s flagship gaming-focused range of phones, and the Dream Edition looks to sit at the top of the GT 7 lineup. Finished in the team’s eye-catching Aston Martin Racing Green, the teased device features Gaydon’s winged badge and “aerodynamic flow lines” running along the sides. The power button is coloured Lime Essence, an accent hue on the race cars.
Specs have yet to be revealed, but the regular GT 7 has been announced to feature the flagship-class MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chip, a massive 7,000 mAh battery and support for 120-watt SuperVOOC charging, topping the phone up to 50% charge in just 15 minutes. It will also come with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel 2x telephoto, a 112-degree ultra-wide and a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
The Dream Edition, which will debut on May 27 in Paris alongside the rest of the GT 7 lineup – just after the nearby Monaco Grand Prix – is just the start of the partnership, which is set to bring two co-branded phones annually, “providing products with ultra performance and stand-out designs to users across the globe.”
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Realme to the team, with the launch of our first ever co-branded phone,” said Aston Martin F1’s licencing and merchandise boss Matt Chapman. “The GT 7 Dream Edition combines high-performance with innovative design, and we look forward to working together on the collaboration of future models.”
Realme CEO Sky Li added: “Collaborating with a legendary racing team like Aston Martin Aramco is a crucial step for us to push the boundaries of innovation. Only our most perfect products get the ‘scarab wings’ and take flight, so we are excited to use our new platform with the team to continue to bring stand-out designs and premium craftmanship to users across the globe.”
