KAJANG: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has given an assurance that no conditions will be imposed on the opposition to support him for them to receive allocations.
“We’ll leave everything to deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof. There are no conditions (that they must back the prime minister), as alleged by the opposition.
“Our discussions aim to ensure the stability of the government and prioritise economic growth as well as harmony,” he told reporters after attending Friday prayers at the Bandar Teknologi Kajang mosque.
Yesterday, Fadillah said the government will prepare a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) on constituency funds for opposition MPs.
He said the unity government had agreed in principle to “consider allocating funds” to opposition MPs.
“To this end, a draft MoU will be prepared and sent to the opposition as the next step in the negotiation process,” he said.
Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin previously said he had received a draft agreement on constituency funds for opposition MPs from a representative of a “high-ranking individual”, but declined to reveal more details.
Fadillah has denied the existence of such a draft agreement.
