PETALING JAYA: The police have launched an investigation following a complaint received on a dead body found floating in the lake at Section 14, Shah Alam.
Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said a member of the public had alerted them to the discovery of the body at about 8.20am this morning.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased is a male, without any identification document. He is believed to be a foreigner as he did not have a BCG vaccination mark on his left shoulder.
“The deceased was found fully clothed and in a face-down position (in the lake),” he said in a statement.
Iqbal said examination by the Selangor forensics team found abrasions on both sides of the man’s neck, along with minor injuries on his cheek and nose.
“There were no signs of a struggle or other injuries on the body that could have been the cause of death,” he added.
Iqbal said the body had been sent to the Shah Alam Hospital for a post-mortem scheduled for tomorrow to determine the cause of death.
He urged those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer, Fazlin Rasli, at 012-5113584.
