Local DJ KK Wong On Dealing With Scammers & Bad E-hailing Drivers At KLIA

Everyone who has been to an airport probably has experienced a bad experience; whether they got their luggage damaged or their flight cancelled. However, local DJ KK Wong’s (黄国翔) bad experience came in back-to-back incidents that got him rolling his eyes three times.

The media personality landed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on the evening of 2nd May (Thursday) after a four-hour flight. However, his first eye-rolling experience came after he couldn’t find a ride home. KK said he first had a difficult time finding the pickup point. He also said his e-hailing ride booking got cancelled three times and even after landing one, the driver ended up ignoring him. When the DJ decided to cancel his ride, he had to pay RM3 for the cancellation fee, causing more frustration.

The next mind-boggling incident was when a man approached him, asking whether he was a massage practitioner. Unfortunately, because of his emotional state, KK mistakenly replied to the man with a rude tone. The stranger quickly apologised, saying he had mistaken KK’s identity.

The last eye-rolling encounter was when he was approached by another man. According to the public figure, the man had asked for help, claiming he needed RM20 for a ticket to Johor Bahru. While KK was suspicious at first, he still decided to help out. However, he only had one RM1 note and one RM100 note in his wallet. In the end, he couldn’t help out the man but admitted that it may have been a sign from God to avoid getting cheated.

In his post, KK also laments that these experiences are frustrating even as a Malaysian so it can be even more difficult for foreigners visiting the country. He added that issues with e-hailing drivers and scammers can bring a bad impression to Malaysia, urging KLIA to tackle these problems. Many netizens agreed with KK’s sentiments, even sharing their bad experiences. Interestingly, some also had an explanation for KK’s “mistaken identity”, saying it may be due to his resemblance to massage therapist Chris Leong.

Regardless, KK does bring up a good point about these issues potentially tainting a visitor’s experience while in Malaysia. We hope the airport management can take note of this.
