PETALING JAYA: A Nepali security guard, whose assault went viral on video, was detained by police this evening after a separate report was lodged against him.
However, the content of the police report filed against Eslam Husen , 26, is not known.
Eslam’s lawyer, Sumitha Shaanthinni Kishna said her client had given his statement over the assault by a fellow Nepali – identified as Ram Gopal Murau – at 4pm at the Wangsa Maju police station.
“But Eslam was detained by police for investigation in relation to another report made against him by a third party. He will have his statement taken tomorrow,” she said when contacted.
Two days ago police nabbed Ram for assaulting Eslam. The 34-year-old suspect was arrested based on information provided by the Nepal embassy.
In the one-minute clip, Eslam was repeatedly slapped, punched and hit with a baton by his attacker while being scolded in Malay.
The incident took place at a car park of a condominium at Jalan Madrasah in Wangsa Maju on July 7.
