SEO involves making changes to a website so that it ranks highly in the search results of all search engines including Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask. The result is that your website appears among the top search results when people search for your product or service.

This can result in getting new clients for many years to come.

We explore important techniques that boost your rankings.

On-site optimization
First, you have to make sure your website has your chosen keywords. Your keywords must be included in

1) Title – Page title in found in the meta tags. The easiest way to see this is on top of the browser. The title appears in bold in the search results. This is usually a short sentence that describes the content of the page in 250 words or less.

2) Description – this is also in the meta tags. Meta description provides more information and is usually longer than the title.

3) Content – you should include the keywords naturally in the content meant for the human eye as well as for the search engines. Avoid exaggerating by putting the keywords too many times.

4) Domain name – if your domain name contains keywords, your website will tank higher than one with no keywords.

Offsite optimization – link building
Off-site Search engine optimization (SEO) involves having third party websites link to your website. A website with many websites linking to it is considered by Google and others as being more popular, and is ranked higher than less popular websites.

Be sure to use the chosen keywords as anchor text.

Avoid building links too fast or Google and others could consider it as spamming.

Building links involves several activities:

1. Articles
When you post articles to article directories, they allow you to leave a link back to your website. You will find hundreds of these directories that will link permanently to your website.

Not only does article marketing bring you clients directly, but it also improves your search engine ranking.

2. Profiles
Social networking media like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc, allow you to leave your link in your profile on your account. These websites number in their hundreds.

3. Web 2.0 blogs
Always post your articles in web 2.0 properties and blog sites like WordPress, Squidoo, Blogger, etc with links back to your website.

4. Classified directories
Thousand of directory websites allow you to post classified ads with a link back to your website.

5. RSS
Whenever possible, if your website allows an RSS feed, you should submit this feed to RSS directories. This way, your website will be distributed to other websites with a link back to your website.

6. Videos
Video marketing has become very popular.
Be sure to distribute your videos to all video sites for best results.

7. Bookmarks
There are hundreds of book mark sites that allow posting your link and a summary of your content. These websites are loved by the search engines and can boost your rankings quickly.

8. Blog and forum commentary
The results of blog and search commentary can be a drastic boost in search engine results. Unfortunately this method is abused and can lead to most of your comments being deleted as spam if not done right.

These Search engine optimization techniques can boost your search rankings drastically.

You must make sure that your real estate investor website is well optimized for search so that it continues bringing you new clients for years to come.
