Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman, popularly known as Khairul Aming, has become household name in Malaysia. This businessman and social media star is well-known for both his signature “sambal” brand, “Sambal Nyet,” and his yearly Ramadan “30 Days 30 Recipes” videos.
Yesterday, the influencer posted a video of himself meeting the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Christopher Luxon, who is on a three-day official visit to Malaysia. The meeting was held as a token of appreciation for Khairul’s cookery videos filmed in New Zealand. From making sambal while sitting on the floor to sitting beside a prime minister, he has achieved something that most Malaysians can only dream of.

At the beginning of the video, the cooking content creator was seen preparing the traditional Malaysian breakfast “Roti Jala” and introducing the Prime Minister to “Teh Tarik,” “Cendol,” and other confectioneries. He then invited the politician to try “Nasi Lemak.” During breakfast, they were able to exchange views on tourism, trade exports of halal meat and dairy between Malaysia and New Zealand, nature preservation, and the potential export of local small and medium enterprise products to New Zealand.
He concluded the post by writing, “Eight years ago, I filmed my first cooking video while sitting on the floor. Today, I have the privilege of sitting next to the Prime Minister of a renowned nation. Keep hustling; you’ll be amazed at where life can take you.” This iconic moment was recorded by journalists from both countries.
Netizens congratulated the internet star for his new milestone, celebrating how a regular person worked hard to achieve his dreams from scratch. The comments were full of praise for showcasing Malaysia’s beautiful traditions and using the opportunity wisely. One comment read, “That’s why Mahathir follows you on TikTok!” while another said, “Wow, another level of achievement. Congrats, and keep it up.”
