Legendary French luxury fashion house, Louis Vuitton, is known for its masterfully-crafted apparel and accessories. But the iconic brand has also been dabbling in the world of watchmaking, namely with its Escale line of timepieces. To celebrate its 10th anniversary in horology, Louis Vuitton has unveiled a quartet of métiers d’art wristwatches – and they’re stunning!
The newest iconic Louis Vuitton watch collection, Escale, evokes the spirit of travel and elicits memories of a contemplative moment before embarking on a new journey. Combining watchmaking know-how with a legendary past, La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton débuts a time-only three-hand model on the Louis Vuitton Escale for the first time, available in a variety of colour and material combinations, and imbued with vintage trunk-making design codes.
Inspired by the metallic elements and lozine nails of the iconic Louis Vuitton trunks, the intricate dial is adorned with gold indexes and studs. In homage to Louis Vuitton’s renowned Monogram canvas, the rose gold versions of this redesigned watch feature a grained finish centre dial that produces remarkable visual texture.
The newly-designed Escale allows the time to be read with the greatest ease and clarity. Every detail, from the play of case finishes to the curve of the sapphire glass and bezel, is clearly illustrated. The hand-polished and hand-brushed lugs with decorative rivets contrast delicately with the satin-brushed case sides, creating a continuous reference to the Maison’s expertise in crafting trunks.
With an elevated approach to case design that reveals sophisticated finishes and unisex wearability, the 39mm case enhances the watch’s versatility and perfect proportions in relation to the wrist. It also skillfully balances a variety of textures in the subtlety of the contours.
Powering the Escale watch is the LFT023 calibre, which was first featured in the renowned Tambour watch and is the first in-house, three-hand, automatic movement created by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. Originating in the rich field of traditional Swiss horology, this calibre’s timekeeping performance is a crucial distinguishing feature, having been approved as a high-precision Swiss chronometer by the Geneva Observatory.
The new Louis Vuitton Escale line ranges in price from US$26,400 (~RM124,278) to US$168,000 (~RM790,860) and can be purchased through Louis Vuitton’s official website.
