Usually, when you sign up as an affiliate or a distributor in a network marketing company, you're told by your sponsor to make a list of people you know and start calling them and arrange meetings to pitch your opportunity. This is called cold-calling. Not very effective if done the wrong way. And frankly, most networkers do it the wrong way. In order to succeed this way, you've got to be a master salesperson. You could certainly learn to be one, but that would be a very long and hard road to travel. You'd probably go broke before you learn how to do it right.
Then there are lots of network marketing strategies to use online, on the internet. First, let's talk about Pay Per Click advertising, or PPC. This marketing strategy is used by most of the internet marketers and quite a lot of them do well in it. In PPC advertising, you set up ads and banners that sell your product. These ads are links, that direct traffic to a capture page or a sales page. What you need to learn in order to become successful in PPC, is how to write killer copy that sucks people to your ads, and you also have to do some research where to place your ads. Overall, Pay Per Click advertising is very effective when done correctly.
Next strategy is Facebook marketing. What you need to do first, is to create a fan page, then start driving traffic to that page. Your page contains links to your products that you are selling or promoting, or links to your opportunity. You can post "like" buttons all over the web and create a fan base that way. You can also find other Facebook fan pages, "like" them, and get them to "like" your page. Posting valuable content on Facebook is the key to driving traffic to your page. You can also do PPC in Facebook. That has also proved to be very effective.
There are many more network marketing strategies out there, and as said, all are effective when implemented properly. However, in order for any of these strategies to work, you need to know your target market. That is essential. Why, you ask? Simply this; you have a meatloaf recipe, that is absolutely the best in the world. All your friends and family have told you that. Even some top Chefs have told you that. But you run a vegetarian restaurant. You can do all the marketing and promoting in the world, but you can not sell that meatloaf in the vegetarian restaurant. Period. Same goes for network marketing. When you market your products or business, you want to market to other networkers. Again, why? Because they are already sold on the concept of network marketing. And remember, the only purpose for marketing is to get leads. Leads are what keep this business alive.
