Talk about social media strategy in marketing management is widespread all over the internet nowdays. This is basically due to the fact that almost every individual who has access to the internet is now hooked to this hype of going from one particular social network to another.
Nearly everyday as I open my email and check my inbox I receive invitations from friends and other acquaints, inviting me to join them at different social gathering sites. There just seems to be something new everyday, so I am tempted to believe that social networks of this kind are being created daily.
As marketing specialists we believe that where there are people, there are also a lot of opportunities to market our products or services. And we all have seen how the internet has been flooded with traffic caused by people visiting online social networks.
A very familiar song says, It's a small world after all. But now I could say that the world has become even smaller due to the reality that today distance is no longer a barrier. We can do business in every place and we can do it online as we apply social media strategy into our marketing schemes. By this we mean that by signing up for a free account at one of these social networks, we can then have the privilege of meeting our prospective clients and know them until we can open up to them our business intentions.
Using this kind of marketing strategy is free of charge because the social networks never ask for fees. So away from the usual way of advertising, marketing, branding, packaging, promotion, and other methods of bringing your brand, product, or services out into the limelight, you can have this as an alternative route to bringing your brand to where it should be.
However, just like any other means that business companies and organizations employ, this too is subject to some restrictions. One particular area of concern is building rapport. You need to be aware that it may take a little longer for you to establish relationship with your prospective clients than when you do personal marketing. Having a virtual relationship with clients on the internet may lack interaction. Most often, conversations through instant messaging and chat are informative because the basic ingredients of communication such as eye contact and appropriate body language are missing.
Another problem with social media strategy that I am sure related to the previous one is the issue of trust. Trust is so hard to establish especially that it is but an online relationship with your clients. How can anyone just give in so easily to a marketing agent or agency he or she has not seen yet? So as a marketing professional you should extend your patience here because it will take a while before you get the result you wish to discover. But this does not mean you give up this alternative way to expanding your business. What you can do is utilize all the other means of marketing campaigns while maintaining your visibility to the public through social media strategy .
